The City of Toronto and YWCA Toronto reopened YWCA Davenport at 348 Davenport Road on
December 17, 2021. The renovated City-owned facility will continue to provide safe, pet-friendly,
emergency shelter and support services including permanent housing referrals to individuals 16 years of
age and older, who identify as women, transgender, or gender non-binary, experiencing homelessness
in Toronto.
The four-storey property underwent extensive renovations and redevelopment including a 4-storey
structural steel addition to the rear lane of the property, also know as Designers Walk. Renokrew is the
proud constructor for both Phase 2 and Phase 3 of this project. The project included the complete
building renovation, including over cladding, various cladding systems, basement and above ground
additions and redevelopment, the installation of a new elevator, shaft, mechanical room, and associated
components.
The site will open with 39 beds to start, to meet physical distancing requirements under the current
Shelter Standards Directive, but when physical distancing requirements are lifted, the shelter will be
able to accommodate up to 73 individuals overnight.
A huge congratulations to the entire team!
