Project Overview
Renokrew worked along side AFD Designs and Honeycomb Group on the demolition of an existing retaining wall, new retaining wall construction, building foundation repairs and restoration. The new retaining wall replaces the previous one owing to structural and safety concerns to neighbouring properties. Renokrew carried out the new construction using a structural shotcrete method, new poured in place footings, and extensive welded reinforcements per engineered plans. The new retaining wall was constructed at 5 metres tall and 50 metres in length. Foundation repairs and cold applied waterproofing was also carried out as part of the project. Asphalt paving, fencing and hardscaping was executed as the final project phase.
The client’s goal was to address the buildings leaking foundation and replace an aging and collapsing retaining wall, posing a great danger to neighbouring facilities.
One of the major challenges was working in a space constrained environment, due to the proximity of a neighbouring building. Not only was the phasing and scheduling critical, it was also very important to maintain rapport with the operational staff, who continued their day to day operations in a construction zone.
The project was a great success. Through the efficient and sequenced work maintained with trade contractors and the project team, the project was completed on time and on budget. Renokrew met all deadlines through proper planning and execution, and the team worked with trades to meet and exceed schedule expectations. The owners and staff are excited about the finished product and were positive throughout all aspects of construction.
