In early 2020, Renokrew was selected as the Prime General Contractor for the Renovations and Expansion to the Yee Hong Palliative Care Hospice. The project was designed by Larkin Architect Ltd. and featured a 10,000 square foot expansion, complete with 10 Patient Bedrooms, Offices and Dining Areas.
The construction of this project was executed within an Occupied Hospice and during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Thus, Renokrew prepared and implemented a specific Infection Control Plan and Procedure in consultation with IPAC Consulting. Renokrew followed strict guidelines and procedures to reduce the risk of healthcare related infections.
The project involved extensive architectural, mechanical, and electrical demolition and rebuild. Independent Fan Coil Units were installed for each of the rooms, and new mechanical and electrical was completed throughout. The project also featured steel stud framing, coffered ceilings, gypsum, crown molding and custom millwork features. Exterior hardscaping improvements were also fulfilled to meet AODA accessibility requirements.
The project was a great success. Through the efficient and sequenced work maintained with trade contractors and the project team, the project was completed ahead of schedule. Renokrew met all milestones through proper planning and execution, and the team worked with trades to meet and exceed schedule expectations. The owners and staff are excited about the finished product and were positive throughout all aspects of construction.
