In 2019, Renokrew worked alongside AECOM and SAB Engineering on the 6500 square foot interior and exterior renovations and modifications to the existing St. Andrew Catholic Elementary School.
It was the goal of our team to successfully renovate the space while allowing the school to remain operational. The project scope for the St. Andrew CES was extremely broad and included multiple areas. Some of the most focused areas of the renovation included the existing Staff Room and the main floor classrooms. The renovation included transforming the various areas of space into various offices, AODA accessible washrooms, new Staff Room, new entrance vestibule and free-standing unit ventilators throughout. The goal of the project was to create a more comforting atmosphere with increased air flow and added ventilation. The aesthetic of the space was complemented by creative use of millwork and decorative floor finishes. The careful foresight of the entire project team ensured that work was completed in a safe and productive fashion without disturbing or harming the schools’ patrons. Given the constrained 12-week timeline, it was quite an accomplishment to finish this project within the allotted schedule. The strong partnership between YCDSB and Renokrew ensured a steady flow of information and communication allowing us to complete the project without incident, on time and on budget. This project addressed many of the architectural, design, scale, and usability challenges and limitations posed by the buildings’ existing design and footprint. The project was a great success. Staff and students are excited about the newly finished space and were positive throughout all aspects of construction.
