Project Overview
This project consisted of a major renovation and the construction of a new three-storey elevator shaft and the delivery and commissioning of a new Limited Usage Limited Access Passenger Elevator, along with revitalization of the existing building facilities to meet AODA Requirements. Highlights of this project also included renovated entrances, bathrooms, and redesign of the existing building to accommodate the new lobby elevator. This project addressed many of the architectural, design, scale, and usability challenges and limitations posed by the buildings’ current design and footprint.
The Archdiocese of Toronto and its associated parishes are committed to providing a welcoming, accessible and inclusive environment for all of its parishioners, visitors, volunteers and employees; ensuring that the standards of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) are conscientiously observed and all parishes provide a welcoming and equal opportunity for worship.
The client required that the Parish remain operational during construction, so Renokrew completed the work in various phases and utilized shift work. With public safety at top of mind, Renokrew diligently ensured work areas were properly closed off at the close of each shift. To avoid inconveniencing parishioners, Renokrew carefully sequenced construction activities. The project's taking place in an occupied building meant the project team collaborated closely with the Archdiocese to minimize the impact of construction on parishioners as well as the general public. The project was delivered on a tight and stringent schedule that met the owner's business model. Owing to the project team’s organized and rigorous action planning, the project was successfully and proudly delivered on time and on budget.
